Rivers have a cultural and spiritual value in the local and indigenous communities of many of the tropical world countries. Every ecosystem is influenced by cultural and spiritual perceptions. A riverine ecosystem is strongly associated with the development of human culture in society and rivers have great religious significance in some cultures. They consider the river as a symbol of faith, sanity, purity, and hope. It is a traditional way of nature conservation and environmental management. But the over-exploitation of such cultural and spiritual services will lead to the degradation of many rivers in society. Fishing, recreation, and aesthetic values are the fundamental components of river cultural services that bind the community to it. The spiritual and sacred values of the resources are become lost by the associated economic developments and which leads to the indigenous community being thus alienated from their environment.
